GDA orders probe, report within week
Ghaziabad Development Authority vice-chairman, Narendra Chaudhary on Monday ordered an independent probe into the building collapse in Shalimar Garden here that left four persons dead and 14 injured.
Mr Chaudhary said action would be taken against those engineers and other staff who were found violating building laws. The inquiry report will be out within a week, he said.
The under-construction four-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening, killing four persons and injuring 14 others — all construction workers and their kin.
A contractor and two supervisors have been arrested and a manhunt has been launched for the builders.
A magisterial probe was ordered into the incident on Sunday.
The police has registered a criminal case against seven persons — Kranti Tiwari, her husband R.P. Tiwari, her sons Maitrey and Kartikay, her brother Arvind, contractor Kishan Chand and supervisor Devender — under various sections of IPC including 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) at the Sahibabad police station.
The builder Kranti Tiwari has constructed 48 flats in an unauthorised manner, the town planning department of the GDA had claimed.
