Girl, 7, raped by 3 in Jamia Nagar

Three students pursuing MBA and civil engineering courses are alleged to have kidnapped and sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl after offering her drinking water laced with sedatives. The incident has been reported from the Jamia Nagar area of southeast Delhi.
Speaking to this newspaper, DCP (southeast) P. Karunakaran said that the police has lodged an FIR against the accused on the basis of the complaint and the statements of the family members of the victim. The police will take the help of an NGO to record the statement of the victim.
“I can’t divulge more information since the matter is related to a seven-year-old girl,” said DCP Karunakaran.
A police source close to the investigation said the accused have been identified as Abuzar Ahmad, Ahrai Ahmad and Mohammad Zabir.
The source said that the accused live in a rented accommodation in Jamia Nagar area. The victim lives on the first floor of the same house. The house belongs to a relative of the victim’s family.
“They have been living in the house for the past three months. The family members of the victim said that when the girl, who was playing outside, felt thirsty, the accused offered her water laced with sedatives and took the victim inside their room. The girl was semi-conscious and was feeling giddy after drinking the water when she was assaulted. The victim’s mother said that the girl’s clothes had blood stains when she came out of the room,” said the police source.
The source said the girl was taken to the LNJP Hospital for medical check up instead of AIIMS.
The source said the case was lodged under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement), 328 (causing hurt by mean of poison), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
“We are looking into the matter. No arrests have been made so far,” said a senior police official.
