Girl dodges abductor in NDLS stampede
At a time when passengers at New Delhi railway station were living the horrors of a stampede, in which two people were killed on Sunday afternoon, a five-year-old girl, who was kidnapped from her south east Delhi residence, escaped from the clutches of her kidnapper while he was purchasing tickets to take her out of Delhi.
The police officials said the accused, identified as Sirju, alias Qamruddin, 22, a resident of Gorakhpur had kidnapped the victim from her residence in the Amar Colony area of southeast Delhi on Sunday. The victim’s father Ramakanth is a fruits dealer in Amar Colony. Sources said the victim was kidnapped by Sirju when she was playing with her friends and taken to New Delhi railway station.
“He was planning to extort money from the victim’s family and decided to take the girl to his Gorakhpur residence. However, when the chaos broke out at the railway station, the girl managed to make her way out of the railway station and was spotted by police personnel who took her to a daily care home,” a senior police official said. She narrated the incident to the police after which her family members were contacted. Sirju was later arrested from his Gorakhpur residence.
