Girl gangraped by 3; two held
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by three youth in Ghazipur area of east Delhi on Monday. Two accused have been arrested in the case.
The police said the incident took place on Monday afternoon when the victim was on her way to her aunt’s residence in Mayur Vihar phase III when a youth riding a motorcycle known to her offered her lift.
The girl hopped on to the bike after which the accused drove on roads unknown to her. When the victim became suspicious and asked the accused where he was taking her, he kept dodging her queries and took her to an isolated place where two more youth were waiting for him.
“The accused asked the victim to get down from the bike and started making immoral gestures towards her. When the victim pleaded the youth to let her go, the accused pounced on her and assaulted her when she offered resistance. The accused then raped the victim one by one after which they threatened her to keep quiet or face dire consequences and escaped from the area,” a senior police official said.
The victim, who studies at a government school, however went to her home where she narrated the incident to her mother. The family approached the Ghazipur police station where a complaint was lodged against the accused.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault.
Raids were conducted by the police and the two accused, whose identity was not disclosed by the police, were arrested. A manhunt is on to nab the absconding accused.
