GoM fixes `200/sq. m development charge
The group of ministers of Delhi government on Thursday arrived at a decision to fix `200 per square metre development charge on unauthorised colonies for regularisation. It also decided to recover the charge from unauthorised colonies which have come up on government land as per the rate fixed for such land. The Cabinet had earlier failed to take a decision on development charge on unauthorised colonies as proposed by the city urban development department. It constituted a group of ministers comprising urban development minister, A.K. Walia, education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, revenue minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and industries minister Mangat Ram Singhal. The decision will be put up before the Delhi Cabinet for approval. The group of ministers decided to keep the development charges to the minimum as proposed by the department of urban development.
It also proposed that those who pay the development charge within stipulated time be given rebate of 20 per cent for which charges need to be paid within the first three months. Further, residents paying the charge within a year will have to pay interest at the rate of 10 per cent. Those failing to pay in one year after notification will have to pay 10 per cent fine as well.
