Govt to intensify chikungunya, dengue drive
Even as 65 new cases of dengue were reported in the capital on Tuesday, Delhi health minister Kiran Walia instructed officials to intensify drive against dengue and chikungunya outbreaks in the city.
Dengue cases in the capital this year have gone up to 4,679 while a total of 33 chikungunya cases have also been reported so far.
Prof. Walia, while presiding over a meeting of different departments to curb the chikungunya menace, called for coordinated efforts of the MCD, Delhi Cantonment Board, Delhi Government’s hospitals.
“Special OPDs in hospitals and Mobile Health Vans will be deployed to take care of patients. Spraying teams will be formed to destroy mosquitoes breeding in different parts of the city,” Prof. Walia stated in a statement. She stressed on the need to check mosquito breeding in a effective and aggressive manner with sprinkling of tamifoss and mosquito repellent.
