Govt lifts ban on 567 regularised colonies
The Delhi government on Tuesday lifted the ban on registration of property transaction in 567 unauthorised regularised colonies. These colonies were regularised in 1980s but a ban was imposed on registration of property transaction in 2006, as the government had not denotified the land on which they had come up over the years.
The revenue department of the Delhi government on Tuesday issued an order lifting the ban on property transaction in the 567 unauthorised regularised colonies. Following the order of the Delhi government, buyers and sellers of properties in these 567 unauthorised regularised colonies can get their transaction registered in place of merely transferring the ownership through the instrument of power of attorney. Senior officials stated that the government decision would not have much of an impact on the property prices, as the transaction had been taking place on the basis of power of attorney.
Most of these unauthorised regularised colonies are located in East Delhi, Paharganj and Karol Bagh areas. A large number of these colonies are in the east Delhi areas of Shakurpur Basti, Geeta Colony and others.
After a court ruling that the land on which these unauthorised regularised colonies were not denotified by the revenue department, Delhi government had imposed a ban on registration of properties in these colonies in 2006.
A number of colonies out of the 567 which were regularised in the 1980s had come up on the government land for which the government was required to denotify them to complete the due process.
The Delhi government of late has started taking keen interest in the state of affairs of unauthorised colonies.
