Gujarat MP assaulted, man held
A high-voltage drama unfurled at Lutyens Delhi residence of a Gujarat MP on Tuesday evening when a habitual law-breaker allegedly assaulted the MP after gaining entry into his residence, despite a multiple security layer surrounding the area.
The police officials said the incident took place at the residence Dr Mahendrasinh Chauhan, a BJP MP from Gujarat’s Sabrakanta district. The sources said Mr Chauhan’s wife made a PCR call around 6 pm claiming that a thief, later identified as one Mukesh, was assaulting Mr Chauhan.
After the police team arrived, it thoroughly searched the house but was unable to find the accused.
The team was preparing to leave Mr Chauhan’s residence when a cop spotted Mukesh on the roof of first floor. The police immediately surrounded the house and threatened Mukesh to get down and surrender, “He refused to do so and starting running towards the backside when he accidentally tripped and fell down. His leg was fractured as a result,” a source said.
