HC asks UGC, DU to probe fund bungling
The Delhi high court on Wednesday issued notice to UGC and DU and asked them to probe the alleged misappropriation of funds by Ramjas College management.
After hearing a PIL filed by Delhi University Forum for Accountability and Democratisation, which alleged irregularities by the college management, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said, “To maintain transparency, the DU and the UGC are directed to conduct an inquiry as serious allegations were levelled against the college management.”
In another direction, the Delhi HC asked the UGC, the city government and DU to constitute a committee to look into the financial issues arising out of an agitation by a section of teachers of Kalindi College here.
A section of teachers of Kalindi College had resigned on September 29 last year from the finance committee, which approves the college’s annual expenditures and secures funds from the DU, seeking action against the president of the students’ union.
Their resignation has created a crisis as the funds, available for expenditure of the college, may remain unused with the present financial year coming to an end on March 31.
