HC blast executed for Afzal: NIA
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday filed chargesheet in a court against six persons in connection with the September 7 Delhi high court blast that killed 17 persons and injured over 90. The agency told the court that the motive behind the blast was to get the death sentence of Afzal Guru, the prime accused in December 2001 Parliament attack case, commuted.
The NIA, in its chargesheet, claimed that the blast was executed by two Pakistani nationals — Abu Bilal and Abu Saifullah — both are still missing and chargesheet is yet to be filed.
The chargesheet was filed before the district judge H.S. Sharma during an in-camera proceeding. Those named in the chargesheet are Wasim Akram Malik, Amir Abbas Dev and a minor, for their involvement in the terror attack.
Besides them, the three other accused, Juniad Malik, Chota Hafeez and Amir Kamal who are so far evading the arrest, have also been chargesheeted by the NIA.
The agency said the entire conspiracy was hatched between June and September last year at Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir by Wasim Akram Malik and other co-accused to “threaten the judiciary” so that the death sentence of Afzal Guru might get repealed.
The investigating agency told the court that it has already initiated the process of declaring the absconders as proclaimed offenders. A reward of `10 lakhs has already been declared on them by the NIA.
The NIA suspects all the arrested and the absconding accused have a link with the Hizbul Mujahideen, which in alliance with HuJi carried out the Delhi high court blast.
Wasim Akram Malik, a Kashmir native who was studying Unani medicine in Bangladesh, has been dubbed as a “key link” by the CBI sleuths in the September 7 bomb blast case.
According to the NIA, Azhar Ali, a Hizbul Mujahideen module who is in Kotbalwal jail in Jammu since 2009, gave information about Malik.
