A division bench comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Wednesday directed the city government to pay `3 lakhs as interim compensation within four weeks to the kin of a vegetable vendor who was injured in a road accident but allegedly died in an ambulance after being denied admission by one hospital after another.
The court had taken suo motu cognisance of media reports on the death of Rambhor after he was hit by a vehicle on November 29 at Azadpur Mandi.
Rambhor was first rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, but the doctors refused to admit him as there was no intensive care bed available.
From there, he was moved to Sushruta Trauma Centre near Kashmere Gate where he was again refused admission as they did not have an ultrasound facility.
He was then taken to LNJP Hospital which also refused admission saying the medico-legal documents were not in place.
Rambhor had allegedly died in the ambulance while it was parked on the premises of LNJP without any medical attention due to the apathetic attitude of the authorities.
