HC notices to DU, teachers on strike

After hearing a petition of a retired professor seeking direction for action against striking Delhi University teachers, a division bench comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi HC Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan on Wednesday issued notice to DU and Duta and sought replies from them by Friday.

DU exams are scheduled to be held from December 6.
The teachers have been protesting against implementation of semester system at undergraduate level in science courses for the current academic year.
The petitioner, Prof. M.R. Gupta, Wing Cdr (retd), sought disciplinary action against the teachers.
Meanwhile, Union human resource development minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday asked the DU teachers to return to work and said that the new vice-chancellor will be decided by next week.
