HC refuses to stop Metro mall sealing
The Delhi high court on Wednesday refused to restrain the MCD from sealing unauthorised constructions within Metro station premises in the city.
Justice Manmohan Singh passed the order after going through the petition of the DMRC, which pleaded before the court to give the matter an urgent hearing.
Rejecting the petition of the DMRC, the court asked the civic agency to continue their sealing drive in the unauthorised areas in the Metro premises.
The MCD has on Tuesday sealed a commercial complex housing shops of reputed brands at the Inderlok Metro station premises alleging that a private developer has constructed it without authorisation from the civic body.

Teachers to protest extra work burden
Age Correspondent
New Delhi
June 9: The teachers of the MCD are apparently not happy with the “overburdening” of work on them as they have been roped in for census duties, besides being given other tasks like voter ID verification.
The teachers association on Wednesday met the lieutenant governor to discuss the issue and are likely to stage a protest. Most of them complained of not getting even a single off during the summer holidays due to the census data collection work they have been given. MCD’s newly-elected chairperson of the education committee Mahender Nagp-al added that the teachers were being overburdened.
