HC relief to students barred from exam
Coming to the rescue of 50 architecture students, the Delhi high court has stayed the ban by the School of Planning and Architecture on them and allowed them to appear in the examination.
The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) authorities had barred 56 students from appearing in the examination citing shortage in attendance. Out of over 100 students, 50 would appear in the examination. Meanwhile, fate of over another 50 students, who were not allowed to give the exam, remains uncertain.
Knocking the Delhi high court for an interim relief, students alleged that it was unfair on the part of the college authorities that they were told about their attendance shortage on the day of their first exam.
“Now, we are allowed to appear for our papers from Wednesday. 50 students had filed a petition in the Delhi high court and the court permitted us to appear in the examination,” said Virkein, one of the students of SPA.
The students also met HRD minister Kapil Sibal recently over this issue but said that their interaction was not fruitful.
“We had a brief meeting with Kapil Sibal but it didn’t benefit us. We were expecting more out of the meeting with Mr Sibal,” said one of the students who met the Union minister at his house.
These students missed two papers and they are now hopeful for clearing these subjects in the supplementary examinations.
“It is unfair that we got to know shortage in attendance when we came to appear for the exam. The list of students having less attendance was put on the board just 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the examination,” said another student.
