Help flees with `1crore employer’s cash
A domestic help working with a family at Greater Kailash in southeast Delhi for the last five years allegedly escaped from their residence along with `1 crore cash on Saturday evening.
Police officials said the accused, identified as Ram Kishore, 25, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was working at the residence of a builder Sunil Bedi since the last five years. “On Saturday evening, the two other domestic helps of the family found the lock of an almirah open and alerted Mr Bedi, who in turn informed the police control room about the theft,” a senior police official said. He said the accused, Kishore, was registered with the police but his verification had not been done so far.
Official sources revealed that Kishore had broken the lock of the almirah at around 7.30 pm on Saturday and then he put the cash in a bag. “He was seen carrying a black bag by the two other helps. They told us that Kishore was looking nervous when they asked him where he was going and didn’t answer properly. When they went into the room, they found the almirah lock broken after which they called Mr Bedi. We suspect Kishore’s involvement in the theft. The family has claimed that `1 crore cash was kept in the almirah and a case has been accordingly registered at the Greater Kailash police station,” the official said.
The sources revealed that Mr Bedi was attending the reception of his nephew at Gurgaon with his wife, two sons and a daughter when the incident happened. “It looks like Kishore had carefully planned the theft and more people may be involved in it. Our forensic team has taken fingerprints from the room. The two other helps are being questioned in the matter and a police team is on its way to Uttar Pradesh to locate the accused,” the official said.
