Humidity, heat to stay some days
On a day the capital should have experienced its first monsoon showers of the season, it witnessed high levels of heat and humidity, thanks to the heat wave conditions existing over Rajasthan and the slow progress of monsoon. Though the power demand relatively did not go much high, there were long powercuts in South Delhi areas, including Green Park.
According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 40.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. The humidity levels at Safdarjung were recorded at a high of 66 per cent and a low of 41 per cent. There was no rain.
Meanwhile, the advancement of monsoon has been slow and it is yet to cover the Gangetic plains of Uttar Pradesh. For Wednesday, the weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundershowers towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 42 degrees and 30 degrees Celsius.
