IPL betting drives youth to robbery

Expensive gifts to charm girlfriend and IPL betting led a 23-year-old to burglaries in various areas of south and southeast Delhi. However, Praveen Kumar and his associate Biru (22) ran out of luck after a police team arrested the duo on Tuesday from the Lodhi Colony area.

So far, the police officers have said that Praveen to meet his expenses use to steal passports, pan cards, voter cards and other identity documents and use to sell to criminals operating in the Delhi and NCR cities.
“There were instances of burglaries and theft in which identity documents were mysteriously being stolen, “ said the police. On a tip off that Praveen would visit the Lodhi Colony area to burgle a civil servant’s residence, a special team of south district police was dispatched to the area, added the officers. Both were held from the spot.
On interrogation, Praveen confessed that he was stealing these identity documents to meet expenses.
