Jama masjid area to get multi-speciality hospital
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation is planning to refurbish an already existing hospital into the first multi-specialty health care facility near Jama Masjid in the capital, wherein the corporation would create a 300-bedded hospital.
According the plan, the Kasturba Maternity Hospital would be developed into a full-fledged multi-specialty hospital. The location of the hospital would play a key role as it would serve as the nodal emergency care hospital for those in need of emergency service to those visiting the area. The proposal seeks to massively benefit scores of residents in areas such as Daryaganj, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and other areas in Old Delhi. The civic body would develop the hospital on the land laying unused in the hospital premises into an 11-storeyed medical block, constructed over four acres. The existing maternity cum childcare ward at Kasturba Hospital has the capacity of 350-beds. Addition of another 300 beds would increase the total capacity of the hospital to 650 patients.
