Jamia student, 20, beaten to death

A 20-year-old student of Jamia Millia Islamia was bludgeoned to death by four students on Tuesday afternoon. Police officials said the incident took place at around 3 pm near Ansari Health Club on the university campus.

The police said the accused, whose identity has not been confirmed, used iron rods and chains to assault the deceased, identified as Shahrukh Shaheer, who was declared brought dead at the Holy Family Hospital.
While some reports suggested that Shahrukh, a student of the department of fine arts at Jamia Millia Islamia, was dragged out of his classroom and thrashed near the health club, the police said the incident took place at around 3 pm when the deceased was returning home from the classes.
“He was confronted by the accused near the health club and an argument ensued. The eyewitnesses claimed that the assailants took out iron rods and chains and assaulted Shahrukh mercilessly and left him on the road while they escaped,” a police official said.
Following the commotion, some students gathered at the scene and alerted the police. The cops rushed Shahrukh to the Holy Family Hospital where he was declared brought dead. “The vital organs of the victim were badly damaged resulting in his death. We have registered a case of murder and the four accused have been held for questioning,” the official said.
Sources said that the two accused were recently suspended by the university administration over alleged misconduct on the campus. “They were of the belief that Shahrukh had complained about their misbehaviour. The deceased was having an affair with a girl who is also being questioned in connection with the murder,” the official said.
Shahrukh’s father, Shaheer Anwar, is a Yoga teacher in a government school at Jamia Nagar.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
