JCP, 17 cops get President’s medal
A joint commissioner of police and 17 other Delhi police personnel were on Tuesday selected for the prestigious President’s police medals for gallantry, distinguished and meritorious services.
The awards received by the Delhi police officers include three President Police Medals for Gallantry, two Police Medals for Distinguished Service and 13 Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Joint commissioner (security) Taj Hassan Mohammed was selected for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services along with ASI Rewant Ram, currently posted in northeast district.
Mr Hassan Mohammed is credited for "excellent contribution" for smooth management of transportation security, VVIP security, hotel security and Opening and Closing Ceremony in the VVIP area of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during the Commonwealth Games.
Inspector Rajender Singh, inspector Jarnail Singh and head constable Satyender Singh were awarded the medal for gallantry. Inspector Rajender Singh has been awarded for leading a special Delhi police team to counter eight men of the dreaded Satte gang after a shootout in Green Park during a robbery bid at a bank.
Inspector Rajender along with other officers successfully rescued the bank officials and nabbed the armed robbers in a shootout in broad daylight.
Inspector Anil Kumar Mittal, S-I Kali Charan, ASI Uday Vir Sharma, ASI Pushpa and constable Ghanshyam Dass received Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
