Jewellery, cash worth lakhs stolen
Burglars struck at two residences in the city and decamped with cash and jewellery. In the first incident, burglars barged into the house of a hospital employee and decamped with jewellery and cash in Keshavpuram, northwest Delhi, on Saturday night.
The police has registered a case of burglary. The complainant, Ajay Chaudhary, 35, had gone to his in-laws house with his wife and two children to attend a function. “When they returned on Sunday morning, they found lock of main door broken. The entire house was ransacked and `70,000 in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs kept in an almirah was missing,” said a police official.
In another incident, thieves struck at the C-block, Janakpuri residence of a relationship executive of Kotak Mahindra Bank on Wednesday and took away `8 lakhs.
The victim, Bhupinder Singh, who was collecting the money to purchase a house, had gone out at the time of the incident. His wife, Karamjeet Kaur was sleeping with her son while their domestic help went out to buy milk. The thieves entered the house and stole the money kept in the almirah.
