Jhajjar plant to ease woes in summer

The summer action plan that the Delhi government has asked the private power distribution companies (discoms) to prepare, may not be a troublesome affair as the Jhajjar power plant in Haryana became operational on Saturday.
Though this project missed the Commonwealth Games deadline, the city can look forward to better power availability this summer, after the last year’s peak demand touched a record 4,800 MW. The Jhajjar power project, which has the capacity of 1,500 MW, was conceived to provide power to Delhi and Haryana in equal measure. On Saturday, the plant became operational with 500 MW and subsequently 1,000 MW would be added in a phased manner.

‘Women not safe under a woman CM’

March 5: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, on Saturday charged that women in the capital are not safe despite one among them being the chief minister. Ms Swaraj was speaking at a function to mark “International Women’s Day Week” being organised by BJP.
Ms Swaraj referred to the increasing crime incidents against women in the city, despite there being a woman chief minister in Delhi.
Speaking on the topic “Breaking Barriers-Today and Tomorrow” on Saturday at Constitution Club, Ms Swaraj said that women in India are continuously making progress after breaking barriers.
