Justice Ramana sworn-in as chief justice of Delhi HC
Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, judge of the Andhra Pradesh high court, was Monday sworn-in as chief justice of Delhi high court.
Lieutenant governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung administered the oath of office to justice Ramana at a ceremony held at Raj Niwas Monday afternoon.
Chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit and her cabinet colleagues, senior members of the judiciary, officers of Delhi government and other officials and lawyers from various courts were present in the swearing-in ceremony.
Fifty-six-year-old justice Ramana enrolled as an advocate in 1983 and has practised in the AP high court, central and AP administrative tribunals and the Supreme Court in civil, criminal, constitutional, labour, service and election matters.
Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad has been the acting chief justice of the Delhi high court since June 8 after the retirement of former chief justice D. Murugesan.
