Kid tries to kill self to avoid thrashing
Faced with the prospects of being thrashed for the second time by a teacher, a Class 6 student of Mother Teresa school in east Delhi allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of school building on Thursday morning.
The police officials said the incident took place in C block of Preet Vihar at around 8.45 am on Thursday morning. The victim, who luckily survived the incident, was reportedly late for his classes when the incident happened. His family members have told the police that the victim was beaten by a teacher in front of the class. “To escape from being beaten again, the victim jumped from the balcony of the second floor,” a police official said.
The student was rushed to the nearby hospital where he has been admitted with fractures in both legs. The police said they have registered a case against the teacher. “A case under Section 323 (causing hurt) has been registered against the teacher. The complainant has alleged that he was beaten by the teacher. We are investigating the case,” said I.B. Rani, additional deputy commissioner of police (east).
