The university has also recorded a triple increase in the online registration and 100 per cent increase in the form submission by ST, SC and PWD candidates.
“The total number of SC/ST applicants increased by more than 100 per cent. Last year only 23,000 enrolled, whereas this year already 47,484, SC, ST, PWD admission-seekers have registered. Even the online registration has tripled this year (200 per cent increase) as compared to last year,” said Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof. J.M. Khurana.
Last year, 44,000 forms were submitted online while this year 1,07,434 forms were submitted till 5 pm. An applicant, Rajiv, who hails from Indore, came rushing with his luggage on shoulder. “I was really nervous. I knew about the admission but was not aware of the last date.”
The university closed the sale of OMR forms at 1 pm but kept the counters open till 4 pm after the authorities extended the time on the last day to receive the admission forms.
The record turnout is likely to raise cut-offs for courses. The first cut-off list will come on June 27.
