Lawyers stand behind Anna

Thousands of lawyers from various district courts in the national capital observed a day long strike on Wednesday to protest against the wrongful acts of the Government in misusing the provisions of Section 144 CrPC for forcibly evicting Baba Ramdev and the lawfully assembled crowd from the Ramlia Maidan on the mid-night last Saturday.

As per law, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) confers powers to issue an order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger and prohibits gathering of give people at the particular place where it is being imposed.
The protesting lawyers also demanded the inclusion of judges of high court and Supreme Court in the ambit of Lok Pal Bill to ensure conviction of corrupt elements.
The lawyers of Delhi solidly put their weight behind Anna Hazare for achieving the target of eradicating corruption in the Society which can be done only when the judicial system is clean and those awarding punishment to others also know the consequences of their wrong doings.
The lawyers strongly felt that the citizens as well as leaders of any group or political party are free to express their views in peaceful manner in any democratic system which cannot be stopped.
