Learning a never-ending process, says Khanna
One must be a student all through the life, who undergoes a process of learning, unlearning and re-learning,” said lieutenant governor Tejendra Khanna, who is also the chancellor of GGSIP University, while delivering the convocation address at the university.
He also pointed out that academic ambience, besides good teachers, receptive students and state-of-art infrastructure, plays a vital role in the growth of any academic institution. Domain knowledge combined with human values is need of the hour, Mr Khanna added.
Minister for higher education A.K. Walia and Tata Communications chairman Subodh Bhargava also addressed the students during the event. Mr Walia noted that the GGSIP University has set an example of success of public-private-partnership (PPP) model which is not working well in other countries.
Mr Bhargava said as far as learning process is concerned, “we are always a student throughout our lives”. In this period, a student can learn many things from life and experiences. Values are those boundaries within which we think and ponder. Some values, like honesty, empathy for others and compassion, do not change with the time.
A total of 15,945 students of the university were awarded degrees and 67 were conferred with gold medals on the occasion. Fifteen students were awarded with plaque/citation for their exemplary performance in studies.
Also 21 students were conferred with Ph. D. degrees on the occasion.
