LG praises government for CWG, 11% growth
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna complimented the city government for successfully hosting the Commonwealth Games in his inaugural address to the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday.
Mr Khanna read out his speech amid din created by the Opposition BJP. Mr Khanna also stated in his speech that Delhi has been witnessing a sustained annual growth of more than 11 per cent in its gross state domestic product in the recent years.
In his compliments to the city he said that it has demonstrated to the world “our ability to organise and manage a mega sporting events” for which he credited the citizens of the city as well.
Mr Khanna also stated that Delhi in 2011 could also become a power surplus city and listed the number of power plants which are coming up to supply power.
