Lok Adalat Oct. 24 to clear cases
To clear the backlog of pending cases that have piled up in the courts, the Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in co-ordination with the Delhi high court will hold a Lok Adalat in its premises and in all six district court complexes on October 24 to render speedy justice to litigants.
The primary objective of the Lok Adalat is to dispose of cases that have not been settled in the courts.
The mega Lok Adalat will dispose of civil cases and criminal compoundable cases such as recovery suits, injunction suits, rent, maintenance and electricity matters, cheque bouncing cases, MACT cases, accident cases, minor hurt cases, minor theft cases, labour disputes and traffic challans.
Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Dipak Misra on Monday told reporters that it is the inherent duty and responsibility of the media to create awareness about the mega Lok Adalats amongst the general public to make it a success.
He said that Lok Adalats are meant for the people who want their cases to solved without any controversy and media should take up the responsibility to create awareness about it.
