Luxury car fleet for city PCR vans

The Delhi police will become the country’s first police force to use a luxury car as a PCR van as 150 such cars are likely to be procured.
Delhi police commissioner B.K. Gupta said that the decision to purchase “fast” cars was triggered by cases like the recent Dhaula Kuan gangrape where prompt action could have saved the victim. “Prompt action needs to be taken on crime alerts. We are procuring these cars to enable the staff to move fast,” he said.

He further said that regular English training classes will be organised for cops. “In some cases, the police is not able to communicate with the victims due to language barrier, which proves disastrous,” he said.
Although, a proposal has been made for procuring Hyundai Accent or Swift Dzire cars, a final decision is yet to be taken.
