Make women feel secure, says CM
In the wake of two gangrapes taking place in less than a month in the city, chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday expre-ssed unhappiness with the law and order situation. “We discussed the entire situation. We finalised several measures to make women feel secure. What government can do, we will do. We are concerned over the incidents, so is the police. We have to end this atmosphere of panic,” Ms Dikshit said.
The police will file a char-gesheet in the case of gangrape of call-centre employee here within a month and seek the setting up of a fast track court to try five youths arrested in the incident, said police commissioner B.K. Gupta after the meeting.
“The Delhi police was in agreement with the government on setting up special courts for rape cases,” said the chief minister’s office.
Mr Gupta said that the Union government has been requested to amend the Motor Vehicles Act for heavy fines on use of tinted glass and drunken driving.
Mr Gupta also said that the chargesheet in the BPO employee gangrape case would be filed in 30 days.
