Man, 34, ends life at Metro station
A 34-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front a Delhi Metro train at the Uttam Nagar West Metro Station at around 12.15 pm. A senior police official said that the deceased was identified as Desh Raj. “He was waiting for a train heading towards Rajiv Chowk. He jumped in front of the train all of a sudden. The driver applied brakes but he had come under the wheels by then,” said the police official.
The police said that the deceased used to work at a sweets shop. Train services were affected for 20 minutes. The police found a suicide note but did not reveal details about it.
Meanwhile, the crime branch arrested a robber for his alleged involvement in a robbery in CR Park. The additional commissioner of police (crime branch) Ravindra Yadav said the accused Mukarram, alias Janu, was held at Kalandi Kunj. “Inspector KP Singh nabbed the accused who confessed that he was
involved in the sensational day light robbery in CR Park. We recovered
gold, diamond and silver jewellery from his house in Sangam Vihar,” he said. The accused disclosed that he used to hire mini truck to rob scrap items.

Man consumes poison, critical

A 60-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poison inside the Kanjhawala police station in outer Delhi on Wednesday.
A senior police official said that the man who attempted suicide has been identified as Rajbir Singh. “He came to lodge a complaint against his daughter-in-law. He said that his daughter-in-law took all his savings and threw him out of the house. He was assured that action would be taken. He left the police station and returned after a while and consumed some poisonous substance,” said a senior police official.
Meanwhile, a source said that Rajbir had been complaining against his daughter-in-law many times but the police did not take any action. The source said that his daughter-in-law was called by the police and sent back after she assured that she will not harass Rajbir anymore but she continued to harass him. He was rushed to a nearby government hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
