Man, 38, arrested for assault on tenants from Manipur
The south-district police on Saturday arrested a 38-year-old property dealer for assaulting three tenants from Northeast. The incident which took place in Munirka was reported to the police late on Friday while the accused Dinesh was arrested after hours of questioning on Saturday morning.
The four victims, hailing from Manipur, were assaulted around 9.30 pm in Munirka village. Three of the victims, including a 24-year-old woman, are tenants in accused Dinesh’s property.
Requesting that the victims not be named, Madhu Chandra, spokesperson of Northeast Support Centre and Helpline, said they were temporarily residing in Munirka. “The victims were assaulted by the landlord and his men last night. Two of these victims, including the woman, are employees of private firms,” she added.

Metro to be bigger than London’s

Jan. 8: Union road transport minister Kamal Nath said on Saturday that the underground Metro rail system in the city would be bigger than the London Metro by 2017 and a lot of investment for the project was expected from overseas.
Speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here, Mr Nath said: “By 2017, the Delhi underground Metro will be larger than London Metro. We will have 416 km underground Metro by the end of 12th Plan.”
He also added that the government planned to invest over $1 trillion on infrastructure projects in the next five years.
