Man, 65, found beaten to death

A 65-year-old farmer was beaten to death and a 23-year-old who had gone missing was found murdered in a separate incident reported from the city. The farmer was beaten to death by unidentified assailants in Chawla area of outer Delhi apparently after he resisted a robbery bid, the police said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Qahar Singh, a resident of Bhuman Heda village in Chawla area, was watering his farm when unidentified assailants appeared at around 11.30 pm on Friday. The police suspects that robbers attacked Singh and he put up resistance.
“The scuffle turned violent and the assailants attacked the elderly man with rods and sticks, inflicting critical injuries on his head and body. It could also be a case of personal enmity. The body was spotted by a local and a PCR call was made following which Singh was taken to hospital where he was declared dead. His post-mortem was conducted today,” a senior police official said.
“A case of murder has been registered and investigation is on. We have detained some suspects who are being questioned in the matter. The post-mortem report is awaited,” the official said.
In another incident, a 23-year-old resident of Tilak Nagar was found dead in Vikaspuri area of west Delhi.
The deceased, identified as Raunak Singh, had gone missing from his DDA Janata flats residence in Tilak Nagar on Friday evening. His family said that Raunak had told his mother on Friday evening that he would go to a market but he never returned.
“We registered a case of missing when he did not return home. On Monday morning, we received a call about a dead body which was found behind the petrol pump in Vikaspuri. The family members identified him as Raunak Singh,” said a senior police official.
