Man arrested for kidnapping trader
The police arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping a young businessman and demanding `1 crore in ransom from his family.
A senior police official said that on September 13 a businessman was kidnapped and a ransom of `1 crore was demanded for his release. Meanwhile, the police got a call that a man had been held hostage in a building at Krishna Nagar. A team from the local police station was sent to the spot and rescued the man, identified as Alok Jain. The police recorded his statement and filed an FIR.
It was revealed during investigation that Alok Jain supplies plastic pellets to factories. He had supplied raw material worth `20 lakhs to one Dinesh, a resident of Vishwas Nagar. Dinesh, who also runs a factory at Friends Colony, suffered losses while Alok was demanding his payment.
The police official said that Dinesh sold his machines and paid `12.5 lakh to Jain.
“Dinesh also took a loan from others. Then he planned to kidnap Jain to demand a ransom of `1 crore from his family. Dinesh took Jain to Krishna Nagar on the pretext of giving him `3 lakhs. He took him to a flat on the second floor of a building. A lady opened the door and then went out on the pretext of getting cold drink. Accused Dinesh then took out a cutter and tied up Jain with a chair and gagged his mouth with a tape,” said the police official.
Dinesh then started making ransom calls to Jain’s family using his cellphone. He demanded `1 crore. The amount was negotiated to `50 lakhs. Meanwhile, the victim somehow managed make noise which was heard by neighbour who called the police,” said the official. A raid was conducted and the accused Dinesh was arrested.
