Man attacked with sword over Rs 600
A 25-year-old youth was assaulted and his left hand was almost chopped off by a customer when he demanded Rs 600 repair charges from him in the east Delhi’s Mandawali area.
The police officials said the incident took place in the Chandra Vihar area of Shakarpur on Tuesday evening. The victim, identified as Rohit, who owns an electrical appliances repair shop in the area, had gone to collect Rs 600 from the accused on Tuesday evening. The accused Arjun had got his refrigerator repaired at Rohit’s shop on Saturday, but he allegedly did not pay the repair charges.
When Rohit reached the accused residence on Tuesday evening, he got into an argument with Arjun which turned violent. In a fit of rage, Arjun, 35, took out a sword and hit him. “Rohit’s left hand was almost chopped off by the sword. However, the doctors at Max Balaji Hospital in Patpar Ganj, where Rohit underwent an operation, stated that the severed part has been joined with the limb and he is out of danger,” a senior police official said.
“I repaired his refrigerator on Saturday, but he didn’t pay the money and told me to collect the money on Monday to his residence for the payment. However, his phone was switched off for the whole day on Monday. I sent one of my staff to collect the money on Tuesday morning but he not only refused to pay but manhandled the worker. So, I decided to collect the money myself,” Rohit said.
“His left hand was almost chopped off with a few veins connecting the arm with the hand. Rohit’s friend Angad rushed him to the Max Balaji Hospital in Patparganj,” the official said. The police has registered a case against the accused at Mandawali area and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
