Man attacks wife with axe after spat

A woman was attacked with an axe by her husband on Wednesday morning following marital discord over the last six years. The incident took place at around 5 am in Prem Nagar area of Hari Nagar in west Delhi. The victim, Seema, 35, had an argument with her husband Tarun, 38, following which he picked up an axe and attacked her.

The couple has marital discord and a case had been registered at the Crime Against Woman cell few months back. After the assault, the accused, who works in a transport company, went to the Hari Nagar police station and surrendered. Meanwhile, the neighbours called up the police. The victim was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where she is battling for life in the intensive care unit. “They were not on good terms and used to have regular fights. Today, when Tarun attacked her, she tried to escape but he managed to hit her with the axe in the face and arms. They have a four-year-old son. A case has been registered against Tarun and he has been arrested,” said a police officer.
