Man attempts to ‘enter’ PM-Prez route, gets injured
A 43-year-old auto dealer was seriously injured near Dhaula Kuan area area when he “accidentally” attempted to enter in the Prime Minister and the President’s route as “no clear indication was made by the police” that the convoy was passing through.
Pramod Tanwar was injured on Thursday when the police allegedly pulled a rope attached to the road barricade just when he was coming out of a street to enter the zone through which the Prime Minister and the President had to pass. Tanwar is admitted in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and is not likely to be discharged soon.
Police sources said the traffic was halted as soon as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took the route. As he left, the security personnel were alerted that President Pratibha Patil will also be taking the same route. “The cops, who were removing barricades, suddenly started pulling the ropes once again and Tanwar, who was coming back from Sai Baba Mandir in Lodi Colony area along with his associate, got injured,” a police source said.
“He was admitted on Thursday and is at the High Dependency Units (HDU),” RML medical superintendent Dr T S Sidhu said.
