Man crushed by Inter-city express, dies
A 36-year-old trader from Rajasthan was killed when he tripped and got crushed by the Indore-bound Inter-city Express at Nizamuddin railway station on Wednesday evening. The eyewitnesses alleged that there was a delay in moving
him to a hospital due to lack of a stretcher and an ambulance at the railway station.
The Delhi police, however, denied any allegations of delay in rescuing him. Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi said it was “saddening”. “How this incident occurred and what exactly happened, I am not quite aware of it. But whatever happened is quite sad. Whatever minimum facilities are required it should be there and I believe it should be there at stations,” he said.
The incident took place at around 10.25 pm on Wednesday when the victim identified as Bhagwan Porwal, a dry fruit trader, slipped between the platform and the foot board of the Intercity Express.
