Man injured in accident on BRT corridor
A 25-year-old employee of a private firm was injured on Friday morning when a luxury car hit a cyclist on the Bus Rapid Transit corridor near Chirag Delhi flyover.
Police officials said the incident took place at around 7.50 am on the BRT corridor when the victim, Sunil, a resident of Tigri Extension in Khanpur, was going to his office o
n motorcycle. A luxury car, which was allegedly speeding, hit a cyclist who in turn bumped into Sunil’s bike. “The cyclist was carrying an iron rod which pierced the left foot of the victim and both fell down. The car driver managed to escape,” a senior police official said.
The incident came to light when a pedestrian saw Sunil and the cyclist writhing in pain and made a PCR call at 8.10 am. A team of cops rushed Sunil to Trauma Centre where he is in a stable state.
The doctors however declared him unfit for statement. “There were no eyewitnesses to the incident, which makes it difficult to identify the car or its owner. The cyclist was not able to see the registration number of the car. We are waiting for Sunil’s recovery. CCTV footage has also been recovered from some strategic locations which is being analysed,” the official said.
A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered at the Greater Kailash police station.
