Man jumps in front of Metro, services hit
The Metro services were affected for about half-an-hour on Dwarka line during the morning rush hour on Friday when a man jumped in front of a train at Janakpuri East station in an apparent suicide attempt.
The Metro staff, however, rescued the 52-year-old man after he jumped in front of the train which was moving towards Noida City Centre from the Janakpuri East Metro station at 8.15 am. The man has not yet been identified.
“The train operator applied the emergency brakes as soon a she saw a man jumping in front of the train. The Metro staff rescued the man and rushed him to DDU hospital for treatment,” a DMRC spokesman said.
After necessary checks, the Metro services on the corridor resumed. The incident led to delay in services on the Line 3 (Dwarka Sec 9-Noida City Centre/Anand Vihar) for about 30 minutes.
Line 3 is the most crowded corridor of the DMRC and over six lakh people travel on it everyday.
