Man killed in bid to save employer
A 25-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants when he tried to foil a robbery attempt on his employer in the Badarpur area of southeast Delhi.
The incident took place on Thursday night and the deceased has been identified as Manoj, a native of Bihar, who worked as a salesman at Anchal Traders, a garment shop in Agarwal Market owned by Ravi Kumar.
The police said Manoj resisted a robbery bid on his employer by two armed assailants.
“Ravi closed the shop and left for his home on Thursday evening along with Manoj when the incident occurred. Ravi was intercepted by two motorcycle-borne men who asked him to hand over the bag. When Ravi resisted, the assailants tried to snatch the bag after which one of the assailants took out his pistol and threatened to kill him,” a police official said.
Manoj, who had taken a different route to his house, saw the assailants and came to help Ravi.
He tried to overpower the assailants and a bullet was fired by an assailant in the process, which hit him in the neck and he fell down. The assailants then escaped from the spot, leaving the bag.
In the meantime, Ravi, who was hiding in a shop, made a PCR call and the victim was rushed to AIIMS where he was declared brought dead.
The police has registered a case at the Badarpur police station and a manhunt has been launched to catch the assailants.
In another incident, a 50-year-old man was shot dead while his friend suffered gunshot injuries after they were attacked by unidentified assailants in south Delhi’s Fathepur Beri area on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rajpal, a resident of Jaunapur locality.
His friend Karan, a resident of Dera village, is fighting for his life in AIIMS.
The two were attacked near a secluded place near Dera village petrol pump when they were travelling in a Honda City car.
The police is suspecting personal enmity or business rivalry as the possible motive behind the attack.
