After a heated argument with his wife over her work, a man murdered her and their two minor daughters before committing suicide earlier this week, the police said on Friday.
The bodies of Anand Prakash, 36, his wife Lakshmi, 34, and daughters, Bulbul, 8, and Priya, 5, were found in their locked house in Surat Nagar area here, the police said.
The family was living there for the last six years. “Laxmi was working at a garment export house in Sector 37, Udyog Vihar. Anand, a two-wheeler mechanic, was against her working there but she didn’t want to quit. They often had heated arguments on the issue," said a police officer. “He stabbed them with a meat-cutting knife and slit his own throat too before hanging himself. All the bodies were found on the first floor,” he added.
DCP (south) Abhey Singh Rao said the bodies were discovered after neighbours complained of intolerable smell from the locked house.
“The bodies were badly decomposed. A team of forensic experts has been called,” he said.
Expressing shock over the incident, neighbours Shur Singh and Ravinder Kumar said that they had never thought that Anand could take such an extreme step. They said the family was last seen on April 16, when Anand said he was going with family to his native village in Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
