Man moves HC for kids’ fee exemption
A father of three, earning less than Rs 2,500 a month, has moved the Delhi high court to get fees exemption under the BPL category for his three children studying in the Kendriya Vidyalaya School here. Vinay Kumar, 45, a roadside vendor, who underwent a heart surgery in May last year, has filed a writ petition in the high court urging it to restrain the KVS from striking off the names of his three children studying in KVS in Naraina area because he is unable to pay their fees.
Filing the writ petition under Article 226 of Indian Constitution, N.K. Sahoo, lawyer of the petitioner Kumar, said that the children are below 14 years of age and should be accommodated in the school without charging any fees or other expenses.
‘’KVS in its 2009 circular issued to the assistant commissioner of KVS has chalked down a criteria to compute monthly income of the parents who come under BPL (Below Poverty Line) category for the purpose of exemption of tuition fees,” Mr Sahoo said.
The circular stated, the parents who are living below the poverty line and whose income is less than Rs 3,500 per month and having a BPL card will get exemption of fees.
Mr Sahoo said, Kumar has three children, all studying in KVS and they are meritorious.
