Man rams SUV into truck, dies
A 44-year-old man died and his family had a narrow escape when his SUV rammed into a stationary truck at Badli in Outer Delhi.
According to the police, the deceased Preet Pal, a resident of Jammu, was on his way to Jammu with his family when he met the accident at around 5 pm on Sunday.
“As the deceased reached near Badli bypass, he failed to see a stationary truck and rammed his SUV into it. The police and passersby immediately took him and his family members to hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said a senior police official.
Preet Pal’s two sons, Amanpreet, 18, and Tushar, 15, his wife Satpal Kaur and driver Naresh had a miraculous escape in the incident.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman, identified as Meena, a resident of Nangloi, was caught red-handed when she was trying to steal valuables from a traveller’s handbag held at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station on Saturday.
“Two officials were on patrol duty on platform number six and seven at the railway station when they heard commotion from coach number S-6 of Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express. The officials rushed to the spot and found that a female passenger had caught a woman who was allegedly trying to steal her valuables from her handbag,” said a senior police official.
The complainant, Archana Sudesh, told the police that the accused was trying to open the zip of her handbag.
“We have lodged an FIR following the complaint. The accused Meena hails from Bhawnagar, Gujarat. She shifted to Delhi around three years back. She has two daughters. She is an illiterate. She told us that she is an expert pickpocket,” said the officer.
