Man robbed of wallet, bike in Chanakyapuri
Two unidentified assailants intercepted a youth who was on his way to Gurgaon on a motorcycle near Buddha Jayanti Park in the high-security Chanakyapuri area, robbed him of his wallet and motorcycle and escaped from the area.
Police sources said the incident took place at around 7.40 pm when the victim, Ajay Kumar, a resident of Pahargunj, was on his way to Gurgaon where he works in a private company. “The victim was going to Gurgaon via Ridge Road. He stopped his bike near Buddha Jayanti Park when two assailants surfaced,” a source disclosed.
While one of the assailants grabbed the victim, the other took out a firearm and asked him to hand over his wallet. The victim did not put up any resistance for the fear of getting killed and handed the wallet. The assailants then asked for the keys of his motorcycle which he gave them. The assailants then rode off,” a senior police official said.
Sources said the victim then made a call to the police control room around 7.50 pm. A team of policemen arrived at the spot and took him to the Chanakyapuri police station where his statement was recorded and a case under Section 382 (restraining with the intent to steal, sometimes showing arms) of the IPC against the two suspects.
When contacted, the investigating officer of the case said that he has been instructed by senior police officials not to speak to the media. Repeated calls to senior police officials of New Delhi district went unanswered. Sources however said that no arrests have been made so far.
