Man shoots wife dead in fit of rage
A 30-year-old man shot his wife at point blank range in a fit of rage in central Delhi on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported at 10.30 am from Anand Parbat where the accused, Pappu, a driver, was fiddling with a licensed .32 rifle owned by his brother-in-law, the police said. “Pappu’s brother-in-law, Ashok Pandey, a railways employee, was visiting the couple and had brought along his licensed rifle. Pappu was fiddling with it when his wife Sunita challenged him to use it. He got angry, kept it on her forehead and pressed the trigger,” the officer said.
The police said Pappu has claimed that he was cleaning the rifle when it went off accidentally. “When we reached the spot, Sunita was lying in a pool of blood. Pappu first claimed that she accidentally shot herself while cleaning it. When we questioned him further, we learnt that he had got angry at his wife,” said the officer.
The couple has a son and a daughter who were present in the house when the incident occurred. “We have arrested Pappu for murder and a case has been registered at the Anand Parbat police station,” the officer added.
