Man shot by biker duo in Patparganj
In yet another incident of bike-borne robbers attacking people moving with cash, a 40-year-old man was shot dead when he resisted a robbery attempt. The incident, occurred at Patparganj in east Delhi on Monday evening.
Vinod, a cashier in a scrap shop, was on his way from Patparganj to his employer’s shop in Mansarovar Park in northeast Delhi on his motorcycle. He was carrying a bag containing the sales proceeds. Two armed men on a motorcycle overtook him in Patparganj area. They whipped out arms to scare Vinod into parting with the bag but, he put up resistance. The duo then fired two shots at him from close range. Vinod sustained bullet injuries on the upper parts of his body, collapsed on the ground. The biker duo then managed to escape along with the bag. Vinod was later rushed to GTB hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Preliminary investigations have indicated that either the robbers had been tipped-off by an insider or were trailing the movements of the cashier before attacking him.

`7 lakhs’ aid to family of blast victim

Jan. 31: The Delhi high court on Monday asked the city government to pay over `7 lakhs as compensation to the widow and two minor children of a man who died in a terrorist attack at the Liberty Cinema hall in 2005 allegedly by Sikh terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
The court asked the Delhi government, which had earlier paid `1 lakh as ex-gratia compensation to the family members of deceased Sita Ram, to pay `7.77 lakhs to his widow Yogita and her two minor children within a month.
