Man shot at, falls off flyover
A factory employee was shot at and robbed of `6 lakhs by four bikers at Jyoti Nagar in northeast Delhi on Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Kuldeep Singh, 32, who worked at a picture tube manufacturing unit in Wazirabad, had left his Amar Colony residence of Jyoti Nagar at around 9.30 am on Monday on a motorcycle, the police said.
“Four assailants on two bikes intercepted him on the Loni round-about flyover. One biker crashed his vehicle into his bike following which Kuldeep lost balance and fell down,” a senior police official said.
“Two assailants got down from their bikes and threatened him to hand over the bag having `6 lakhs cash. When he resisted, one assailant took out a pistol and shot him. The bullet hit his right hand and in a futile attempt of grabbing his bag, he lost balance and fell down from the 30-foot high flyover,” the official said.
The assailants sped off from the area. In the meantime, the pedestrians saw Kuldeep falling and made a call to police control room. “Kuldeep was rushed to GTB Hospital where he has been admitted with multiple fractures and his condition is critical,” the official said.
The police has registered a case at the Jyoti Nagar police station but no arrests have been made. “We are questioning some people. We have got some clues but no breakthrough has been made so far,” said DCP (northeast) S.K. Jain.
