Man shot in fight at wedding
A 28-year-old man, allegedly involved in criminal activities, sustained a fatal bullet injury from his own gun while grappling with his brother-in-law in Sabzi Mandi area of north Delhi on Saturday evening. The police has arrested his brother-in-law.
According to the police, Gopal, a bad character of the Nand Nagri police station in northeast Delhi, had gone to the marriage of his sister-in-law in Barafkhana area of Sabzi Mandi. He had an argument with his father-in-law and opened fire at him. However, his father-in-law managed to escape.
Gopal’s brother-in-law, Rohit, caught him and tried to snatch his gun. In the ensuing melee, the trigger got pressed and a bullet hit Gopal fatally. The police subsequently arrested Rohit.

Sedition case: Geelani in house arrest

Feb. 20: Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was placed under house arrest at his south Delhi residence by Delhi police on Saturday.
“He is wanted in a case registered here and we may need him for questioning,” special commissioner (special cell), P.N. Aggarwal said. Geelani was booked for sedition last year.
The case was registered against him following a speech he delivered on October 21 last.
“Four policemen in civvies have been deployed at his Malviya Nagar residence. He will not be allowed to leave and maybe asked to come up for questioning on Tuesday,” a source said. The police is likely to file a status report of the case in a court this week.
